Dawn settles over the allotment —
pigeons rise, gold leaves turn,
and the day begins its quiet rhythm.

This is where my father and uncle still tend the pigeon loft
A pit village where my grandfather once worked the mines
and the allotments grew food for the table.

Now, amongst the hens and woad,
I hang my eco-printed fabrics in the morning light —
the same space, the same care,
rooted in the same ground.
